Mobile World: Light Technology in More Platforms

Light technology is all about capturing more information about any scene to empower the imaging products of the future. We are taking great leaps toward our goal of Light helping camera platforms of all kinds see and know more about the world around them.

The Nokia 9 PureView, driven by Light technology, is the world’s first five-camera array in a smartphone. It is truly best-in-class, built to take the photography enthusiast to new places, and is getting incredibly positive reviews.

"Before the Nokia 9 came out, I didn’t think there was anything that could top the images of the Huawei P20Pro, but after seeing the photos that this thing was capable of, I was so impressed. This phone can take amazing looking shots." - GSM Arena

Looking ahead, we are also laying the groundwork for future imaging systems via our partnership with Sony Semiconductor. Sony Semiconductor Solutions is a leader in mobile camera sensors, and our partnership enables us to leverage and help create the latest in sensor technology.

"It looks like Light is going to be the primary partner for a lot of upcoming multi-camera smartphones over the next few years." - The Verge

Finally, we are working closely with the top smartphone makers to ensure this incredible technology leads the next generation of flagship devices, including a joint development partnership with Xiaomi for their future smartphones.

"We are thrilled to partner with Light to leverage their advanced imaging solutions for our future devices," said Zhu Dan, VP, smartphone division, GM of camera department, Xiaomi. "Xiaomi works tirelessly to remain at the forefront of smartphone innovation, and perfecting smartphone photography is a key focus for us. We are excited to work on devices using Light’s technology so our users can produce even more amazing photos."

We are incredibly excited about the future of imaging, especially on mobile devices. The launch of the Nokia 9 PureView is a huge step forward in bringing outstanding imaging and photography into smaller form-factors and more devices. And our partnerships with Sony and Xiaomi help ensure that the Light technology will bring those capabilities to a range of new products.
